Oran Environmental Solutions transforms the Black Devon River back to its original beauty

November 30, 2011

Oran Environmental Solutions has successfully completed the major task of removing over 20 tonnes of waste from a two mile stretch of the Black Devon River where large and bulky items have been dumped and are now caught up in the undergrowth including: a 60metre pipe, an industrial oven, a beer barrel and boiler amongst many other items!

The Oran Environmental Solutions project team carried out the work over a five day period, facing various difficulties to remove the waste including maintaining health and safety standards around accessing the water and negotiating the steep and challenging banks along the river.  The team also worked in waist deep water and travelled varying distances to drop off each load to then be taken to a skip for recycling.

The commitment and expertise shown by the project team and Oran Environmental Solutions excellent working relationships with the Alloa Park Resident's Association and Clackmannanshire Council has allowed the work to be carried out in a timely manner and ensured a successful completion for everyone involved.

Operations Supervisor Derek Haggart said: we are delighted to have been involved in such a rewarding and challenging project and the team have completed a truly outstanding task to help return the Black Devon River back to its original beauty much to the delight of the local residents.

Business Development Manager (Scotland) Rowena Miles said - we are fully committed to working with local communities and hope that the successful completion of this project will show other community groups and voluntary organisations what can be achieved by working in partnership with Oran Environmental Solutions.
