Gary Thomson has been with the company for over 11 years and began his career with the company as a labourer, assisting all departments with their day to day activities. Gary has seen many changes throughout his career with the Company and this has helped him develop and understand the customers needs and marketplace that Oran Environmental Solutions operates within. 

Q & A's

What's a typical day like for you?

In a word - Hectic! I arrive in the office at 7.30am to organise day to day operations for the sites I oversee and the 4 Site Supervisors I am directly responsible for.  I am also involved in major projects such as providing advice and guidance to Clients and my Team on the installation of centrifuges and liming facilities.

What excites you most about Oran?

The challenges that I face day to day excite me as well as the future and what it holds. I am really exited about the Company's plans moving forward.

What piece of work are you most proud of?

Recently I was involved in the installation of a centrifuge and liming facility for a client based in the North East. Getting involved at a late stage brought challenges on its own as I had to quickly understand the client demands and the organisation of the facility set-up. When I got involved the project was behind schedule however I turned this around with the help of my colleagues which saw this important project being delivered on time.

What's it like working in the processing team?

I really enjoy it. There are days when I want to run away however that's what makes my role so challenging and exciting. I have an exellent bunch of guys around me who understand what I want and in turn I understand their goals and ambitions.

What do you like doing when you're not Managing Process Operators?

I don't know the last time I spent some time on my own having a busy family life however I have 2 children, Steven and Chloe, and love spending time with them along with my Wife Valerie. We all enjoy spending time together getting involved in ten pin bowling, football and walking the family dog; a beautiful Golden Labrador named Cindy.
